Our History
Crossings Community Church began in Mountville PA in February of 2004. A small group of people numbering approximately 25-30 began meeting in the basement of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ as a “Church Plant” of Newsong Fellowship Church in Lancaster city. Within one year their numbers had grown to about 50 individuals and the church incorporated to become “Newsong Fellowship Church /West” and was now an independent church governed by a plurality of Biblically qualified elders. In March of 2006 Newsong /West hired their first Sr. Pastor, Bill Hiestand.
Newsong West continued to grow over the next year and the church began to look for an alternative site to meet as they were outgrowing the basement of Trinity. In the summer of 2007 Newsong West was approached by Millersville Bible Church (MBC) regarding a property that they (MBC) owned in Columbia. MBC was wondering if Newsong/West would be interested in utilizing the property for its ministry and MBC agreed to turn the property over to Newsong West at no charge! God had certainly answered the prayers of the elders and leaders of the church.
On October 7, 2007 Newsong West moved to its current location at 550 Linden Street in Columbia. Today the church has grown to over 120 individuals and is still growing strong both spiritually and numerically. Along with Pastor Bill there are now three part-time staff people with the church.
In October of 2008 Newsong Fellowship Church West changed its name to Crossings Community Church. We are still affiliated with and maintain a good relationship with our “mother campus” Newsong Fellowship Church in Lancaster as they are our sending church. The name change occurred to avoid confusion between “Newsong” churches.
We look forward with great anticipation to what God is going to do in and through the ministry of Crossings Community Church in the years ahead as He continues to write the pages of our history!
